STSRP

SHORT TERM STUDENT RESEARCH PROGRAM (STSRP)

The Graduate Medical Research Program was established to help students understand the planning, implementation and evaluation of research projects. This office provides three types of support for the young investigators. 1) Summer Short Term Research Fellowships under the government grants like the ICMR and TNSCST 2) Short-Term Student Research Projects under the Research Endowment 3) Short term research assistance under the various departments without external sponsors (self supporting). The college encourages students to undertake at-least three research projects before entering the internship programs. Approximately 25-30 students undertake summer research at this institute every year. These fellowships are predominantly funded by ICMR or TNSCST. The process of applications are arranged by the Office of Student Research. Students interested in student research fellowships are encouraged to apply for more than one protocol or more that one source of funding so that they stand a high chance of receiving a fellowship. Our goal is to have every deserving medical student receive a basic training of how to write a protocol and proceed to make a research study.
